A must for car enthusiasts:

Speciality and vintage car enthusiasts and motorsport fans from around the country will descend on Honley next month as we play host to the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival 2021.

From 25th to 27th June, we’ll be celebrating all things motoring, with displays of every type of car imaginable from vintage tractors and beast-like bulldozers to sophisticated Aston Martins and hi-tech Formula 1 racing machines.

If you love cars, then this event is a dream come true. And there’s lots to keep the rest of the family entertained too!

June McLean, owner of Zebra and secretary of Honley Business Association, said:

“It’s fantastic that the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival is being held so close to our village. It’s a great opportunity for people from around the country to see what Honley has to offer. Tickets are likely to be in great demand, so book early!”

For those who can’t make the Festival, around a dozen American Muscle Cars will be roaring down to Honley Cricket Club at 6pm on Thursday 24th June!

Serious competition

The Yorkshire Motorsport Festival isn’t just an exhibition of great-looking vehicles, there’s some serious racing going on too!

The centre-piece of the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival is the closed-road Hillclimb event, the first to be held in the North of England. Taking place at Wolfstones, more than 80 vintage cars will compete for the fastest time of the day over the 0.8-mile public road track.

Hillclimbing is one of the world’s oldest motorsports and celebrates its 101st anniversary this year. So book your ticket and secure your place for this hotly contested race.

Among the cars taking part are a Jaguar D-Type ‘RSF 303’ and Vauxhall Magnum ‘John Pope Special’ with its Aston Martin engine and top speed of 170mph. Also challenging for the title is the 1934 Aston Martin Ulster ‘LM16’, alongside the ‘Doc’ Merfield’s ‘Fraud’ Cortina V8, which started life as a Works Lotus Cortina rally car. Make sure you look out for the Ex ‘Marsh Plant’ Aston Martin EV04, although at 7-feet wide and built for circuit racing, it will be hard to miss.

Fun for all the family

Even if you don’t know your Bentley from your BMW or your Porsche from your Peugeot, you’ll have a fantastic family day out at the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival.

There’s a funfair, children’s beach and lots of competitions for kids of all ages to get involved in. Try your hand at Welly Wanging, support a school team at the Soap Box Derby or check out the lawnmower races (yes you did read that correctly!).

When the Festival closes for the evening, why not head into the village and refuel and refresh at one of our many bars, restaurants, takeaways and food outlets?

Hot-foot it to Honley Cricket Club

If you can’t bag yourself a ticket, you can still get your muscle-motor fix at Honley Cricket Club. On Thursday 24th June, around a dozen American Muscle cars, known as ‘Hot Rods’, will travel in convoy from Upperthong and Meltham, through Honley village to arrive at Honley Cricket Club around 6pm.

The cars will be on display until around 8pm before heading back to the Festival. The drivers will also be available to answer questions from any enthusiastic motorsport fans,. The Cricket Club event is entirely free of charge and everyone is welcome. The bar will be open for refreshments too!
