Celebrating success?

Congratulations!

This year, the A-level results and GCSE results have been announced a little earlier than usual. With reports of record results, we’d like to say a huge congratulations to all the Year 11 and Year 13 students in Honley who are celebrating their grades.

And we’ve some great ideas about how to celebrate in Honley.

Celebratory meal

Treat them to a meal at one of Honley’s eateries. Forget about the taxi, head to one of the Honley restaurants or pubs for a culinary treat.

There’s a world of cuisine waiting for you in the village. At the Jacob’s Well, you’ll discover an array of freshly-prepared dishes from pub favourites to specials with a more international flavour. Up the road there’s Punch. One of the advantages of the delicious Punch tapas menu is that you get to share and taste lots of different dishes at one sitting.

If Eastern Mediterranean food is on your menu, then Savaro is the place to go. They’ve a range of Mediterranean inspired dishes and complementary wines.

Travel along the road and you’ll discover the tantalising range of Asian fusion food courtesy of Pan Yum. Then there’s Canton Chef, with its mouth-watering choice of Cantonese and Chinese dishes.

Staying with the Asian theme, cross the border – well, take a 5-minute walk up the road from the Moor Bottom roundabout – and you can delight in the taste of India at Blue Tiger. As well as your Indian favourites, they have some amazing tasting traditional Indian and Bangladeshi foods on offer.

Drinks with friends

For the over 18s among the successful students, Honley is not short of pubs for a celebratory tipple. Krafty, The Allied, The Foresters Arms and Jacobs Well are all within a short walk of one another. The Phoenix Squash and Fitness Club also has a welcoming bar with outside area.

For the coffee and cake connoisseurs there’s Wired Coffee & Cake, Café Loom, Café Plus and Gallery Café. And remember our latest foodie arrival – Dora’s Desserts – for those temptingly decadent waffle and ice cream desserts.

Cards and gifts

Remember to acknowledge your young person’s achievement with a card and, if they’re lucky, a gift. Taylors Foodstore, Dixon and Franks, Zebra, the Co-op and Holme Valley News all have a range of gift cards to choose from.

When it comes to gifts, think about what’s important to them. Perhaps a nail voucher from Tracey’s Hair Salon or a relaxing sports massage from Well North Physiotherapy will be a welcome treat after all that studying! If you’re looking for something personal, then take a look at Zebra. They’ve gifts for all occasions and price points.

And more…

There are so many ways to celebrate in Honley, Whatever you decide, we hope you have fun. But for now, we’d like to say well done and wish you all the best for the next step in your life, whether that’s college, university or your first job.
