Christmas cheer wrapped up Honley!

A day of ‘Honley Christmas Together’ events throughout the village took place on Saturday, 7th December. Organisations and businesses from across Honley worked together to provide a day of festive cheer, with something for everyone in the family to enjoy!

The ever-popular Christmas Street Market in Church Street, organised by Honley Business Association, had all manner of gifts and festive food and drink stalls to tempt visitors as they meandered up the famous cobbled street.  The merriment continued in St Mary’s Church, where a wonderful programme involving local choirs and musicians got everyone in the festive spirit.

The fun wasn’t only limited to Church Street, as there were plenty of venues around the village holding indoor events:  The Village Trust hosted an Arts and Crafts Fair in the Village Hall with more stalls outside at Moorbottom, where there were plenty of handmade goods for sale, with refreshments. The Scout Hut was the venue for a fantastic food and drink fair with plenty of local produce stalls and bacon butties. Just up the road from the Scouts, Taylors Foodstore hosted live music, plenty of artisan tasting tables and the staff were in fancy dress.

Another favourite fixture was the Christmas Tree Festival, which was held in Trinity Church in the presence of Santa. The Tree Festival continued on Sunday 8th December with music, refreshments and mince pies.

All in all it was a wonderful event to help everyone get in the festive mood, created by the community organisations that make Honley the unique village that it is!
