Great family fun and more to come!

Christmas in Honley:
On Saturday 13th November, hundreds of you came along to Honley Park for our Christmas Light Switch-on celebration.
It was fabulous to see so many people enjoying themselves and supporting our local community.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out before, during and after the event, our musicians, photographer and as well as to all those who sponsored the event or donated prizes, products and food. Special thanks go to Lynne Green from Creating Memories and June McClean from Zebra, who were the driving force behind the entire event. Without you all it couldn’t have taken place.
It’s not over yet!
The Christmas festivities continue on Saturday 4th December with Honley Together. From 10am to 4pm visit the village to join in the fun. From the Church Street Christmas Market, run by Honley Business Association, to the stalls inside Honley Village Hall, there’s a lot going on.
A taste of Honley Together:
Church Street Market:
We have almost 30 stalls selling new goods alongside charity stalls and food stalls, including a BBQ. They’ll be selling bacon and sausage sandwiches in the morning and burgers and sausages in the afternoon, with all meat from local butcher, Lamb2Ewe. You can also buy hot drinks and mulled wine with mince pies to get you into the Christmas spirit.
The Church will be alive with the sound of music from 11am. It all starts with Jeremy playing Christmas music on the newly refurbished Church organ, followed by Honley Male Voice Choir and Yorkshire Traction Honley Band. Food and drink will be available from stalls outside the church.
From 10am to 4pm, there will be stalls in the Honley Conservative Club car park selling goods, plus a fun tombola. The Club itself will be open from 12noon, offering a free Kiddies drink with every adult drink purchased.
Open from 10am to 2pm, the library has lots of amazing activities for children to enjoy. There’s also a Lego Christmas village display with a ‘Where’s Wally’ game provided by Ian Shepherd-Pollitt. Why not pop in on your way from one end of the village to the other?
Open for drinks, biscuits and snacks, Trinity Church will provide a quiet place to visit. Replacing the Christmas tree festival is a memory tree. Anyone who has lost a loved one is invited to put a message on the tree to remember absent friends and relatives. Hopefully, the Christmas tree festival will return next year. If you’re interested in helping to make next year’s event happen, please contact Trinity Church.
Honley Village Hall:
Stalls will be inside and outside the Village Hall this year. There will be a £1 charge to enter the village hall, but you get a free drink and biscuit – bargain! Here you’ll find lots of creative craft stalls, with handmade gifts for that special someone.

It takes a great deal of planning, time and effort to make Honley Together such an amazing event for our village. Thank you to the amazing volunteers who give their time to make it happen. Special thanks to Philip Lofthouse from Stead Robinson Accountants and his band of merry volunteers who installed the hundreds of twinkling Christmas lights giving our village a touch of Christmas magic.
And, of course, thank you to Sandie Nicholson for the amazing photos.
