Deliciously decadent desserts
Have you tried the strawberry cheesecake ice cream? Or perhaps honeycomb or chocolate brownie is your favourite. Maybe pistachio with its subtle nutty undertones is more to your taste?
One thing is for certain, if you’re an ice cream lover you’ll be spoilt for choice at Dora’s Desserts. And it’s not just ice creams that will put you in dessert heaven. There are luxury cakes, lemon meringue pies, Manchester tarts and more just waiting to be discovered.
Imagine, the fragrance of freshly made waffles, topped with your choice of fruit and luxury ice cream. Or crepes, hot off the plate, filled with deliciousness and oozing flavour.
Remember to leave room for the range of locally-sourced speciality coffees and teas, or freshly squeezed orange juice.
If you’re mouth isn’t watering by now, it will be when you step through the doors of Dora’s Desserts on the high street at the front of the Post Office. While the irresistible desserts will tempt you into Dora’s, the friendly welcoming feel of this family business will have you coming back for more.
There’s a seating area and facilities inside the store too, so you can sit back and relax with your preferred choice of the day. You’ll have no problem getting into the shop, the door was widened to make it easier for wheelchair users, and if you’re in a rush, there’s even a serving hatch in the front window.
Don’t despair if you can’t make it to the shop, Dora’s delicious desserts can be delivered directly to your door. Check out their website for details.
Honley’s just desserts
Ateeq, who owns and runs Dora’s Desserts with his wife Farhana, pours his passion for food into every dessert he creates.
“I’ve always loved food but didn’t think it could be a career. That all changed when I took an ice cream making course. I decided to follow my dream and it was the best thing I ever did. I love talking to people, and getting to know them. And seeing children’s faces light up when they see our ice creams and desserts is priceless,” said Ateeq.
Ateeq and his family also own Scooplicious in Thornton Lodge, but wanted to give their Honley shop a real community feel. Even the name was inspired by a historical Honley figure, as Ateeq explained:
“Dora’s Desserts is named after Dora Thewlis, a suffragette from Honley, who stood up for what she believed in. She’s the perfect namesake and Honley is a great place to have a business. It’s busy, welcoming and having the Post Office in the back is great. People can post their parcels then stop and enjoy an ice cream, dessert or coffee at the same time.”
Let’s face it, once you’ve tasted the delicious desserts on offer at Dora’s, you’ll be using any excuse to stop by!
