With three very different birth experiences herself, Ellen Gray knows all too well the benefits hypnobirthing can have both in birth and on your mental health.
Her first birth resulted in an emergency caesarean, her second, a forceps delivery and the third, a natural waterbirth.
Ellen, of Ellen Gray Hypnobirthing, said: “I can speak from experience when I say hypnobirthing has its place in every birth.
“I used the science and benefits of hypnobirthing in all my labours. It allowed me to remain calm and positive for all my births, and it empowered me to make the right decisions for myself as well as my babies.”
The qualified hypnobirthing coach describes hypnobirthing as a full birth preparation and antenatal course, which includes skills in self-hypnosis, breathing and deep relaxation.
Ellen says it will empower you to create a more positive birthing experience.
She promises to give you all the tools you need to help navigate you through the maternity system. At the heart of all her teachings are mindfulness and present moment awareness.
“Hypnobirthing is a total mind and body connection that allows you to release preconditioned fears you may have about birth and helps you to understand how your mind impacts the physiology of birth,” said Ellen.
“It gives you a toolbox for breathing techniques, confidence to make the right decisions for you as an individual and helps you to maintain a positive mindset.
“It enables you to handle any challenges that are thrown your way, to be in the present moment with sensations and feelings, to deal with one thing at a time and to remain calm and focused.”
Support for You, Your Birthing Partner and Your New Baby
In her course, Ellen will guide you through the biomechanics of birth, how certain movements and positions can create more space in the pelvis for your baby to descend, which can both prevent and treat labour dystocia – one of the leading causes for difficult births and caesareans.
Ellen said: “What I am finding is that women have lost their belief in the fact their bodies were made to birth.
“I empower you to find your inner confidence, to give you strength to make decisions during birth and, importantly, to make sure you feel excited.”
Courses to Suit You
Ellen runs a series of antenatal courses for people who are between 20 and 35 weeks pregnant, including:
- One to one sessions
- Group sessions
- In person sessions
- Online classes
Ellen can also provide fourth trimester support after the birth of your child.
“Your birthing experience has a huge impact on the postnatal stage and how you enter that space mentally,” she said.
“My support doesn’t have to just end at birth. I am there to support you through each trimester and in taking your baby home.”
