Children from Yr5 at Honley Junior, Infant and Nursery School were treated to an extra special visit.

Local company, fairandfunky, enjoyed a day in school with our pupils delivering their very popular Chocolate and Fairtrade Workshop. The workshop was delivered during the build up to Easter, where nationally we consume more chocolate than any other time of year, so the perfect time to provide a thought provoking session.

fairandfunky challenged the children to stop and think whilst looking closely at supply chains and consider things like sustainability, fairness and co-operation. The child-centred activities aim to inspire internal motivation to make a difference with the whole day being celebrated as a huge success.

The workshops were brought into Honley Junior, Infant and Nursery school with thank to social media specialists Social Progress who kindly sponsored the event. This builds on the back of the thriving partnership between the School, FOHJINs and the Honley Business Association where local businesses continue to explore options to shape a thriving community where the ‘We’re Stronger Together’ manta of the village is continuing to be upheld.

Mrs Goodall, Headteacher at Honley JI&N School said:

“With thanks to Social Progress the children have been able to enjoy the fairtrade workshop and learn about the chocolate making process and fairtrade. The child thoroughly enjoyed learning about chocolate and working with the professionals from fairandfunky”
