Investing in the Future
Brothers Stuart and Matthew White are investing in the future of their business with their latest purchase.
Having taken on JAW Engineering Ltd from their father, John Alan White (JAW), they have recently invested in an “all singing and dancing” CNC Lathe machine with ‘Y Axis milling’.
That may sound all very technical, but to you and I, that’s a computerised system that can change the shape of a metal machine part by ‘turning’ (rounding), ‘milling’ (flattening) or ‘drilling’ (creating holes).
Stuart said: “It’s an all singing and dancing computerised, modern machine that does everything we need it to.
“It’s basically two machines in one and has totally changed how we work in that we can do so much more.
“It makes our job quicker, which provides us with a faster turnover.”
Care for Their Customers
The mechanical repair and parts manufacturing business started with their father, John, nearly 40 years ago.
The family business in Magdale, Honley, serves manufacturers who manufacture their own products, as well as members of the public who may need specialised parts for machinery, including tractors and lawn mowers.
Stuart said: “We once had a customer who needed a ride-on electric car repairing for his grandchildren.
“A part had broken, which affected the steering, and he was unable to buy any spare parts. He didn’t want to throw it away, so we made him a new part and he was made up.”
JAW Engineering Ltd serves the whole of Yorkshire and supplies parts to Yorkshire companies, which send their goods as far afield as America.
Stuart is all things technology and is the man behind the CNC computer programming. Matthew, who previously ran his own garage, is an experienced mechanic.
“Fixing things can be a challenge but it’s always nice to see a finished product,” said Stuart.
“When you take a lump of steel and make it into something useful, that’s a really good feeling.”
Services include supplying parts for agricultural machines, wagons and bespoke machinery, as well as the remanufacturing of vintage parts, including for vintage cars, to name but a few.
If you need any mechanical repairs or parts manufacturing, why not visit Stuart and Matthew down at Magdale and they will happily give their new machine a spin.
