Characterised by its deliciously colourful display of fresh fruit and locally-grown produce, Taylors Foodstore is affectionately known as The ‘Arrods of Honley.

Over the past seven decades, the store has held on firmly to the family-friendly feel of a traditional grocers. Yet cross the threshold and you’ll discover an Aladdin’s Cave for foodies.

Regional cheeses, artisan breads, craft beers and local farm-reared meats are all on offer within Taylors surprisingly large store, alongside your daily essentials and familiar brands. In fact, Taylors is often the place you’ll discover that obscure ingredient you just can’t find anywhere else.

Taylors is also incredibly well known for its tasty sandwiches which are freshly made to order at their delicatessen counter.

Part of Honley’s history

Taylors has been a focal point in Honley since the 1950s, when Reg Taylor began trading fruits and vegetables from his family’s Meltham Road farm. Since then the business has expanded, adding products and extensions to become an unrivalled and complete shopping experience for customers.

Tony Washington, who now owns Taylors, has grown up with the business after starting as Reg’s apprentice in 1971. Leading by example, you’ll usually find Tony in store: serving on the till, stocking shelves and greeting customers.

Many of Tony’s team also live locally. Whether you’re collecting your morning paper, popping in for a loaf of bread or doing your weekly shop, you’ll always find a smiling face and welcome hello.

Make your special event, extra-special

In recent years, Taylors have introduced an outside catering and delivery service, so you can be confident your guests will enjoy the best local food available. You can even order a celebration cake or gift hamper for extra-special occasions.

Taylors also hold their own, in-store evening events, including gin sampling, wine tasting, and cheese and wine evenings, often accompanied by live music. Keep an eye out for tickets though, as they usually sell out fast.
