Coffee and cake for connoisseurs
How far must you travel to experience speciality grade coffee, prepared by professional baristas and accompanied by delectable homemade cakes?
About 50 yards up Church Street to Wired Coffee and Cake, is the answer!
It’s a taste experience you’d expect to find in Paris or London, but the warm, friendly welcome you’ll receive is most definitely Honley.
Wired Coffee and Cake is run by husband and wife team, Oliver and Katie. The couple used to make wedding cakes, which were so popular with guests that they took the plunge, opening their own café specialising in amazing tasting coffee and cakes.
A friendly, relaxed experience
The café opens Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from breakfast until late afternoon. Oliver explains:
“We want to give people in Honley and visitors a relaxed and friendly experience. Rather than rushing in for a bite to eat during their lunch hour, we want customers to take time to savour our coffee and cakes. When we’re not busy serving, we love chatting with regulars and newcomers, and like to think it’s a place you feel comfortable visiting by yourself, as well as with friends and family.”
At the heart of Wired Coffee and Cake is quality local produce and suppliers. Almost all ingredients and everything they sell are from tried and trusted local companies.
International quality coffee
Wired’s speciality grade coffee beans come from Dark Woods Coffee, which is over the hill in Marsden. This local company sources coffee beans from the best coffee farmers around the world. They pay a premium price for these industry-leading beans, which are roasted at Dark Woods converted mill in the Colne Valley.
By using such a local supplier, Wired know that their coffee is always at its best for customers. Oliver also trained as a barista to give him the skills and knowledge to make quality coffee from these quality beans.
Oliver always makes coffee as it should be made, but if that’s not to your palate, let him know and he’ll adjust the strength to suit your taste. And if you’re into the science behind your morning coffee, why not have a chat with Olivier on your next visit?
Foodies’ delight
Then there are the cakes. Oliver and Katie bake everything on site and there’s always something new to tempt your taste buds. Whether it’s a pina colada cupcake, Eton mess traybake, or the much-loved chocolate brownie, you’re in for a real treat.
Wired’s breakfast and lunch menus – which are kept simple but special – are too tempting for words. There’s always a good old bacon butty made with local Hinchcliffe’s Farm bacon, and bread comes from the award-winning Roger’s Bakery in Marsden.
If you have any allergies or intolerances, just let Oliver and Katie know, and they’ll do their best to accommodate you. They already have a mouth-watering gluten-free cakes and breads suitable for coeliacs.
Take your time or takeaway
