We’re Stronger Together

There are many benefits to being a member of Honley Business Association (HBA), both for you and your business.

As our name suggests, HBA is a collaboration of local businesses working together to improve Honley for the people who live in, work in and visit the village.

With membership costing just £10 a month, we provide opportunities for businesses to work together.

Spotlight on Honley

We shine the spotlight on local products and services both on and offline.

Run by dedicated volunteers, who give their time freely, HBA exists because local businesses want to improve Honley for local people and visitors to the village.

We run some pretty big events, including the monthly Honley Park Markets in summer months and the annual Christmas Street Market, which are held to increase footfall and interest within the village.

When the Christmas Street Market became too big for founders St Mary’s Church, HBA stepped in to help and support, allowing this popular event to continue. Attracting visitors from across the region, the street market has captured the heart of the village. Now both churches are involved and many shops enter into the Christmas spirit.

Previously, we have also run another large event – the Honley Christmas Light Switch-on. But events like this are not possible without the support of our local community. To continue, we need more volunteers. We are always keen to hear from people who may be able to give their time by supporting future events, such as that of the Christmas Light Switch-on, which is enjoyed by many families locally.

We Created This Website

HBA created this website to give local businesses a professional online profile.

Words are written by a professional copywriter, photos are taken by expert photographers and the website was created by social media experts, who all just happen to be local businesses in Honley.

The website offers so much more than just a business listing. Honley.info intends to give browsers all the information they need to live in, work in and visit Honley.

The on-line hub we have created is the go-to place to find everything from ideas for walks and runs, to crafts and community book clubs. It is also a place to find someone who can fix a boiler or help with annual accounts.

Each business profile alone is estimated to be valued at more than £500, yet membership of HBA is just £120 – that’s as little as £10 per month.

Online Help and Support

The popular Honley Community Facebook group is run by HBA and has amassed 8,400 plus members. It’s used by people who live in, work in and visit Honley to pass on news, information and recommendations, or to find lost pets and items, and to generally help one another.

Our What’s Happening Around Honley page keeps its 3,500 plus followers updated with events and activities taking place around the village.

Then there’s the private Honley Business Association group where HBA members can network and pass on business related information.

HBA also runs the Twitter and Instagram feeds that are linked to this website.

We showcase events happening in our area through this website’s What’s On page. From children’s story times, knit and natters, to community clean ups and ballroom dancing, this is a free online calendar for local people to advertise their events in Honley.

A Local Voice

When HBA partnered with Friends of Honley in the 2019 ‘ASK Honley’ survey, inviting local people to have their say on what they liked about Honley and what improvements they wanted to see, this led to the creation of Honley Youth.

The actions and direction of HBA is decided by its members. At the Annual General Meeting, members are actively encouraged to add their voice and opinions to help create the annual business plan.

A Safer and Brighter Village

Honley Business Association paid for CCTV to be installed around the village, which makes residents and people feel safer.

If you ever need to request CCTV footage from Honley village, following an incident that involves you or your property, download this form and follow the instructions for completing and submitting your request.

We’re also responsible for making the village centre look good. HBA organises the flags and hanging baskets that decorate the high street and are paid for by local businesses. Installation is coordinated by HBA treasurer and volunteer, Philip Lofthouse of Stead Robinson Accountants.

A Bright Future for Honley

None of these events are possible without your support and that of our volunteers.
