On Saturday 22 July 2023 members of Honley Male Voice Choir will be talking part in a sponsored 5-mile walk to raise funds for both Platform 1 (charity no. 1177710) and the Choir.  They shall be pounding the streets, fields and woodlands of the Holme Valley to help raise funds in support of mental wellbeing.

Platform 1 is a Mental Health and Crisis Support charity based in Huddersfield Town Centre and working in diverse communities throughout Yorkshire.  They support men and women over the age of 16 with complex and challenging issues through 1-2-1 or telephone counselling, support groups and welfare calls.

Recently, its well-used workshops were flooded resulting in them having to be closed down.  However, counselling sessions are still taking place at its other building based at 7, St Georges Square, HD1 1LA.  Here, a safe and non-judgmental environment is provided in which to build resilience, self-esteem and confidence.  They work with those who struggle, or refuse to engage with services and encourage their trust by working collaboratively to support their recovery and provide advocacy where appropriate.

On the day, walkers will call at the following venues (times are approximate), to perform some songs from their repertoire:

• 45pm Foresters Arms, Honley; 2.15pm Cricketers Arms, Netherthong; 3.20pm Clothiers Arms, Netherthong; 4.45pm The Rock Inn, Brockholes; and 6.00pm Jacobs Well, Honley.
