Urgent Appeal to Support Honley’s Life-Saving Defibrillators

In the heart of Honley lies a network of life-saving devices, each waiting silently to be a hero in the most critical moments. Defibrillators, scattered across our community, stand as silent guardians, ready to leap into action during emergencies.

But behind the devices lies a pressing need for support, and the Honley Business Association (HBA) is reaching out to ensure these vital resources stay operational and accessible, ready to save lives.

An Urgent Plea To Our Community

The potential for lives to be saved hinges on the availability of these devices. Without your immediate assistance, we risk these essential devices falling into disrepair.

As each day passes, our defibrillators face the risk of dwindling resources, potentially compromising their functionality. The costs associated with maintaining these crucial devices have reached a critical point, and without immediate financial support, their future operation is uncertain.

HBA is calling on the local community to help ensure these vital resources remain operational, accessible, and poised to save lives.

A Network of Protection

There is a network of silent heroes standing guard, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice. Each defibrillator, stationed strategically across our village, stands as a symbol of readiness and resilience. But the reality behind their maintenance demands attention.

The costs associated with maintaining these life-saving devices are essential yet significant. From the initial investment in the defibrillator itself to the cabinets, pads, and batteries, each component plays a crucial role in ensuring these devices are ready when seconds count.

Safeguarding Our Community Guardians

Behind each 24/7 accessible defibrillator stands a dedicated individual or establishment, committed to the monthly checks and upkeep of these life-saving devices.

Where are defibrillators located in Honley?

From The Allied to Jagger Lane Rec, Magdale, Taylors Foodstore, Phoenix Squash and Fitness Club, Jacobs Well and beyond, there’s a shared responsibility for their maintenance and accessibility.

Each of the businesses that have a defibrillator provides the electrics for the cabinet to stop it from freezing. The monthly checks and updates, the careful monitoring of availability status nationally on The Circuit, and the financial responsibilities to ensure these devices remain operational – these are all combined efforts from HBA, dedicated community members and Honley businesses.

Joining Forces for a Safer Honley

As a community, we’ve already seen the impact these devices can have. Lives have been saved, hope restored, all because these devices were readily available. But to ensure their continuous functionality, HBA needs your support.

Whether through donations, fundraising initiatives, or community-led efforts, your contribution can help sustain this vital lifeline. Your generosity could make the difference between a life saved and an opportunity missed.

June McLean, Secretary of Honley Business Association and Owner of Zebra Jewellery and Gifts, said: “We believe in the power of community support. Being part of HBA, I’ve witnessed the incredible impact that even a single donation can make. Whether it’s a one-time contribution or a regular commitment, every act of generosity goes a long way in ensuring the continued operation of our life-saving defibrillators.

“Beyond financial donations, we help to ensure the defibrillators remain operational year-round. Once a defibrillator has been removed, The Circuit sends an email to say it has been removed and asks us to check it is back in the cabinet and operational.”

Reflecting on the history of usage, it’s clear these devices stand prepared, having been accessed 13 times in the last 16 months. While not used on every occasion, their presence remains a vital safety net.

June recalls the touching generosity of one individual who donated £50, sharing a heartfelt story of how their life was saved by a defibrillator.

“This poignant reminder underscores the immense impact these devices hold, reaffirming our mission to ensure their continuous availability for our community safety,” she said.

Your donation today can be the lifeline someone desperately needs tomorrow. Your support, whether a one-time donation or a regular commitment, keeps these life-saving tools accessible and ready for action. It is a donation that can potentially make the difference between life and tragedy for someone in our community.
